I've just come up with an old Wards-Western Field model 93M-497A Bolt action 22 made by Mossberg. My moms uncle said it has been in his basement for 40-50 years. It has a long pistol grip type trigger guard that seems to be made out of some type of hard plastic. The guard is still fastened at both ends but has somehow pulled away from the stock in the center. This doesn't allow the trigger to travel back far enough to release the firing pin. I'm wondering if I could apply some sort of heat to the plastic to get it back in it's proper place. I don't want to melt it or break it, so what could I use? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

                               thanks

The easiest way to remedy your old Mossberg's trigger guard is to order a new replacement... yes, they are once again available!  Here's the page link to the part at GunParts Corp:

Mossberg Trigger-Guard With Finger-Grooves (http://www.e-gunparts.com/DisplayAd.asp?chrProductSKU=37920A&chrSuperSKU=37920)

Shoot that old rifle!

God Bless,
