Just purchased a 9422 Legacy rifle, .22 WMR, 22.5" barrel that was on consignment at a local gun shop. NIB. Its serial Number dates it at 2001. I have very little information on the various 9422s, much less the Legacy Model. I know the 9422 was produced from 1972 through 2005, but does anyone know when the Legacy was produced? It has a soft rubber - with round Winchester logo- buttplate that surprised me. I was thinking hard plastic. The wood is beautiful, and the wood to metal fitting is very god. The soft rubber buttplate's fit to the stock could have been better. Usually the wood proud to the butytplate, but this is the other way around.

I believe the Legacy began around 2000-2001. From '85-87 they made "XTR Classic" which is the same as the Legacy but did not have checkering or the soft butpad, it was a curved steel one.

The legacy started in 1998 and 1999 for the 22 mag caliber and ran until 2004, page 1804 of the 27th edition of the blue book of gun values.
