I'm want to get started in casting my own bullets. Most for my .45 maybe some .40. Will shoot a SWC most likely. Whats the first step i need to take in getting started? What equipment, lead, sizers, etc? that I need to complete the whole process. I have alot of experience reloading, and I have done alot of casting for muzzleloading bullets, fishing lures, etc.

Fireaway45, I suggest you start with a good read through the front part of the Lyman Cast Bullet Manual. Only a few bucks, but it will give you a good place to start. Then ask some questions and discuss stuff with some of the fellers what's been doing it for awhile. Also, don't jump out there and commit a bunch of resources ($$$) before you know exactly what you are going to be doing. Alot of it can be done on the cheap. Remember one thing, however. You'll be playing with molten metal that can really hurt you if you do not pay attention. Never, never, never, shortcut the safety - especially eye protection. The other rool is that you must have fun. sundog

I'm with sundog, start simple. I recommend the Lee push through sizing system and liquid Alox. The dies come with a container of Alox for less than $15. You apparently have a melting pot already, so all you need is some Lee 2 cavity moulds. Don't save a few bucks on the single cavity mould. Scrounge some wheelweights at the tire store for lead alloy and you're started!
