The rifle appears to be an SKS with a host of aftermarket parts.

SKS in the hand a 629 on the floor at her feet.

Those were my thoughts exactly, but the profile of the firearm sure suits the SKS. Also look at the length of pull. My guess is a very small woman.

Yes, it's an SKS....but a Yugoslav one, with the grenade launcher on the muzzle (a 59/66, to be exact). As well, it does wear a Choate aftermarket stock.

And that rifle is quite illegal. It was allowed to be imported with those evil features (flash suppressor, bayonet, and grenade launcher, and many had night sights) because it did not have a detachable magazine. But that has been changed making the legally imported SKS into an illegal rifle. By doing that stock change he also removed the C&R protection given to the rifle. You cannot build a rifle that would not otherwise be allowed for importation unless you did the swapping out of imported parts with US made parts to lower the import parts count to 10 or less of the named 20, and I bet dollars to doughnuts the owner did not do that.
Nice picture and gives the ATFE a good starting point to find an illegal rifle. Is that a knock on the door they hear???
