Anyone replaced the front sight on a M95? I need to remove the entire base in order to install a barrel band sling swivel stud. It looks like it is soldered on, and a pin holds the bead in the slot. Any advice would be welcome.

Mule,
If you will drift the front sight from the ramp you will find one of two things: a screw head or nothing. The nothing will tell you that it was "silver soldered" to the barrel; a very common practice.

The base of this sight is not a dovetail. There's a slot down the length of the base that the blade slides into. Its secured with a pin through the base above the slot. I guess it would have to be soldered. If I heat it with a torch, it should fall off right?
