I purchased a Winchester 94 .375 Big Bore. This gun is like new. I was wondering how old the gun is? And what's the value of the Gun? Serial number AE22XXX. This is the first lever action gun I've ever bought. My Uncle has a Marlin .375 Win and he loves the Gun. When I bought the gun I never realized it was a Winchester. That shows how much I really know. Anyway I enjoy the gun. I went out and purchased a Marlin 336 30-30 over the weekend. I think I'm hooked on these Lever Actions.

I can't find my Blue Book but seems to me that these were made from around 1978 - 1987 or so. There were about 50,000 of them made. Your's is near the middle of the pack. I would guess that it's an XTR top eject. I had one up until a few months ago. Also have a Marlin 375...prefer the Marlin myself. But that is the only Marlin I currently own vs 5 Winchesters. I sold my Win BB for $465. Wish I'd waited a little longer but was happy with the deal.

You'll like that 375 but will have to handload for it to realize it's true potential. Factory loads are expensive and only available with a 200gr bullet. With 250gr hardcasts it's a real hammer.

I do not know the start and of these ser# but I have BB 004xxx and think it is early. William Iorg has a list of ser#'s. I believe the AE in your ser# suggests a angle eject. Is your rifle a angle eject? I think the angle eject came out in 1983? I could be wrong. Someone else will chime in with more info. Good luck with your purchase. Karl

Serial number AE22XXX.

Duh! Sorry. Didn't pick up on that. Think mine was in the 2x,xxx range and WAS an XTR, but was prefixed with BB.

I found out the gun was made in 1983 during the second month of production. This guy from Winchester called me back yesterday. In 1983 that was the first year of angle ejection. That year they also tapped the gun for a scope. That was factory! He said the price of this gun will jump because of Wincheter not making the Model 94 and the .375 is a rare caliber to find.
