Are there any good reasons to only shoot cast bullets or jacketed bullets though one gun but not both? The reason I asking is I am really getting into casting bullets and like shooting them for practice and I wondering if when Deer season comes along and I want to switch back to a jacketed bullet load I used in that gun before what problems if any will I have created? Will probably have to resight for the new jacketed load's zero and clean the barrelw ell before switching from one to the other. that's not any real problem; should check zero before any hunt and start out with a clean barrel between range visits anyway.

Why not work up a good cast bullet and just use it for hunting too? I have numerous cast hunting loads.

If you're not gettting Pb or Cu fouling, should have no problem going from one to the other.

That is my goal with a bunch of the old timers and levers I have accumulated. I am in the learning stages with the casting and just having a ball. My long time deer rifle is a Mauser actioned 257 Ackely Improved which is very accurate and has put over 25 deer in the freezer with my next favorite my savage 99 in 250-3000. I have aged enough and shot enough deer that I'm finding myself happy to leave the old faithful rifles in the rack and hunt with the .32 spec, 35 rem and the 38-55. I hope to be able to hunt with these and others using cast but also want to keep sharp with the old faithful ones using cast to practice and when needed go back to my proven jacketed loads. I have no problem with the change in POI and having to rezero. I just was wondering if I would get into problems like extensive cleaning etc. when I change over?
