other than Feral species or coyote, what can be hunted year round in Washington State? I'm looking to enjoy frequent opportunities to stalk and spot and shoot. Seems like the best way to explore our state and to forge good field skills.
Thanx

You might want to get a copy of your state game regulations. There is one for big game, one for turkeys, one for trapping and small game. Stop at one of the sporting goods stores like Sportsmans Warehouse they will have the regulations. This will tell you what animals can be taken year around.

But I feel like there are species they leave out. Are there birds that can be hunted year round. That kind of thing. Maybe not.

Contact the state dept of wildlife, or whatever they call it. The proclamations usually apply only to animals classified as "Game". Any other animal may or may not be shot, depending on if it is protected in some way which may be by either state or federal law.

As a general rule, raptors and songbirds are protected. Some lizards, turtle/tortoise and other reptiles may be. Jackrabbits are probably OK anywhere, anytime, but contact the state and be sure.

Remember, any answer you get on this, or any other, forum is hearsay! Go to the source (State game dept) for definitive answers. Their documentation will hold up in court when you get a ticket for hunting illegally.

The information that you all share is very handy when I correspond with th WDFW. It helps to understand the same facts in different ways. A more complete picture.
