This picture was in the latest Texas Hunter magazine.
The author said that warts on deer were common. And that the warts were only skin deep, and the animal could be eaten.
After nearly 45 years of deer hunting,I've never seen warts on deer, and sure wouldn't want to eat anything like this.
I might shoot it to put it out of its misery.
Anyone ever see any thing like this???

Strangely, it looks more like a leafy vine wrapped around the deer.

Also looks like a rope. I wouldn't want to touch it either!
BTW, got my Model 70 6.5X55 back with a new trigger and polished bolt. It is slick.
Hog hunting this week-end. Hope I don't see a deer like this one.

That is very strange looking and I have never seen a deer that looked anything like that. I reckon I could use the photo and insinuate to some of the high fence folks that their high dollar deer could get it from all of those feriles running around. But I would be happy to help them out of their plight along with my son and son-in-law and reduce their feril hog for them and I would not charge them a dime. :D :D It would just be out of the goodness of my heart. :D :D

I have seen warts on game animals but nothing like that. Years ago I bought a few head of cattle and several had some pretty large warts. The Vet said that they were harmless to the meat. Interestingly within a month of being put on good pasture the warts went away.

Anyone ever see any thing like this??? Never, nor would I eat any part of the carcass either. If it's common, how is it that no one I know has ever seen or heard of this, nor have I ever seen such.
