It is about time someone made this ...

i like the 9.3 X 74R just never had the 4 to 6000 for a double rifle ..

Even SSK industries makes a barrel for the Encore Frame in the 9.3 X 74R ..
Just the order time is about 6 months ..
I just ordered one ..And will order the new Ruger as soon as it comes out ..
Slated for sometime between end of April or July..??

I too would like a 9.3X74R, but am of the opinion that the "H" model is too heavy for that caliber. I was talking to a friend about Ruger's new offering regarding the weight issue, who knows someone in their marketing department. He called them and asked why they were not going to offer it in the "S" model, which is about a pound lighter than the H and has a 26" BBL; to his surprise, Ruger had been asked that question many times. Contrary to their brochure, this "company friend" told him that Ruger was now going to offer it as a 1S. Of course if it is as "timely" as the Red Label SXS, it should hit the dealer shelves in by 2008 (I'll be in line for that one). Riley

I have the 1H in .375 H&H and it weighs only 8.25 pounds with sling, Burris rings and Leupold VX-1 2-7x33. They aren't light but they aren't that heavy either.

MM - I've looked and handled a few 1H's in .458 and .375 (different size and weight barrels for the two calibers). If your rifle weighs 8.25 pounds with scope (11oz), rings (4oz), and sling (8oz) you have a very light Ruger 1H "three-five-seven" indeed! It will be interesting to see what Ruger does with the 9.3. Riley, Ill tell you this, I have gotten it wrong twice in the time I have owned it. Set it to my shoulder just wrong and hooo doggy have I paid. I was happy with it off the bench shooting just a hair under an inch with the New England Custom Guns peep sight but I put a Leupold VX1 on it and got my handloads down to 5/8th of an inch. After 40 of them, I'm done for the day. :) eye balls rolling independently in my head sort of thing. :D

MM - I'm a 'hearin ya' about the recoil issue! My .375 weighs in at 9 1/4 pounds and is pretty comfortable until I get beyond the 40 round "count" off the "bench". Anything much lighter, I would probably consider a "mercury" cylinder in the "butt" stock. However, those light guns sure make traveling "on foot" alot easier even if you dread that first shot. You confirm what I've heard about the accuracy of the Ruger No. 1 "Big Bores"! Regards - Riley
