I heard a rumor from the 2006 Shot Show that Winchester is thinking of bringing out a saddle ring carbine version of the
model 1895 in 30-06. Has anyone heard anything definite?
A 30-40 would be cooler, but a 30-06 would do.

They are made in Japan by Miroku. However, the quality of these rifles is outstanding. Like the 1886 Winchester compared to the 94 Winchesters of current production, the Miroku made 86 is a much finer crafted rifle, IMO, as is the 1895.

I've always thought thesse were cool lever actions, I'd for one love to have one in 30-06. Put a good peep sight on it and that would be one mean deer slayer.
