This isn't a shooting story but you fellows will get a hoot out of it.

I went fishing for a while yesterday here on Pickwick Lake. Beautiful day. Caught a few fish and enjoyed the sunshine. Went back to the ramp to load-up. Parked the Scout and trailer on the ramp and drove the boat onto the trailer.

At this point I noted that my classic 1964 Scout was rolling into the river. The parking brake had poped loose. Ran foward in the boat and attempted to jump from bow to bed of scout. Missed, ------ fell on left side onto the trailer tung. Saved scout and drove it out of the river. It made it about seat deep when I was able to stop the roll. Retrieved the boat from helpfull angler and loaded it on the trailer. AGAIN.Successfully this time.

X-rays reveal one cracked rib and muck swelling and bruising. Lost cell phone in river and soaked hearing aid. (the hearing started working again after drying for a while)

The folks fishing around the harbor must have had a great show watching all this. Wish I had it on video. Go ahead and laugh, it's funny. Ha Ha, ouch.

A post script to this , Avoid posting to forrum while under the influence of Percocett. I replied to a post in the gunsmith section from jb12string and totaly botched it. The warning on the bottle says no driving or operating equipment. Need to add this one also.

I had a similar experince two or three decades back. No broken bones, but the tranmission sucked water.
I have broke(cracked) two ribs even longer back. They still cause pain intermittently( cough wrong, sneeze wrong, laugh wrong, fart wrong, whatever wrong) , it hurts!

Good story Duststorm. I'm glad you didn't get deep enough to turn that scout into a pump!

If it had been a new jeep I wouldn't have been able to get it out. Thanksfully the old thing will start in gear and I was able to creep it out with the starter. After the water drained out of the exhaust it fired up OK.

My hearing aid started working after drying for a while. I was more concerned with it than anything. I have hearing in my left ear only and with out the aid I don't hear at all.

If I can keep from sneezing or coughing I think I'll survive. I sneezed unexpectedly yesterday and could have sworn I had been run-through with a bayonet. Whew... OUCH>
