can anyone date this 870 remington shotgun for me?  it's serial number is 833***X  its a plain barrel 20 ga. with no white line spacers  any help would be appreciated...thx.

  i found out its a 1963   you guys can all stop searching now.....

how did you find that info? i have an 870 and i haven't the slightest idea of how old it is.

i asked a friend who is a dealer, he had a book, apparently remington uses a 3 letter code that is found on the left side of the 870 barrel, near the breech, also there is a letter in the serial number on the reciever,  the barrel code and the letter in the serial number dates your remington.
