Went to the range today (first time in many many weeks) with a couple of guys I work with. I took all my long guns and we had a great shoot. The air temperature was around 38 degrees with a slight west to east breeze and tons of sunshine.
I sat down at the bench with my Ruger #1V 25-06 and shot a 4-shot cloverleaf with the first 4 shots. I figured (literally) it was very fitting for St. Patrick's Day.
Came home, and the wife (Patty Dunn-McGuire) had a nice corned beef and cabbage dinner ready to eat. Now I'm enjoying a cold beer.
It just doesn't get any better than this.

I bet that cold beer is great with the corned beef. Each year I save a venison rump and corn it.....oh, my! I haven't had a drink in a lot of years; stopped drinking when I came back from Nam. But, a cold one with corned beef/venison sure does sound good!

That does sound like great day Flashole. I like the new "Tobasco Habenaro" on mine. A little goes a long way. Once you are lit up, that cold beer really tastes good.

OK Flashhole I'm still waiten for a report on that little CZ 243 full stock. I still remember the pix you posted when you picked that up and want to know how it shoots and what optics you ended up with on it.
Were going to have some 60 plus degree weather here in Idaho this coming week and I'm going to get my #1 243 sighted in for the up coming squirrel season. I've got a Weaver classic 3 by 9 on it now for yotes and I change over to a Tasco 8 X 32 target dot for them ground squirrels.

Yes, I did have the CZ550 FS 243 at the range. I dialed it in using some factory ammo over the XMAS vacation and found it could easily hold moa. I put a Burris 1.5-5 X 25mm scope on it. It could do with a little umphhh in the optics department and I may change that out in the not too distant future.
Not the best picture but it shows what the gun looks like now.

I was burning up more factory ammo at the range just to get fire formed brass and have made up a "ladder test" batch of ammo. I need at least a two hundred yard distance to do the ladder test. I have some Speer Hot Core bullets loaded and am also going to go the Speer TNT route. I am quite pleased with the way the gun shoots and the set trigger is really nice.
I had my #1V 25-06 at the range too. We were putting lots of holes through pennies that were taped to the backer at 100 yards. The superbly-dialed-in-ammo are handloads using Nosler Ballistic Tip bullets. You will like your #1. It takes a little messing around with it but they can shoot. I picked up this tip on this forum. If shooting from a rest, nest the rifle back towards the action to keep from putting inconsistent tension on the forearm. It makes a difference.

That is pretty. You were talking about refinishing the stock last year, are you still thinking about doing that? I'm putting a full stock on a Rem model 7 in 308 with the 18.5 inch bbl. I havn't decided on a black and gray laminate or a nice piece of Claro Walnut. I think I'm going to get one of the CZ 527 Varmiters in 204 Ruger for a dedicated squirrel gun this summer.
I've had my #1B now for a couple of years. I've been shooting the Nosler 55 grain balistic tips thru it for yotes and squirrels. It was made in 1979 and a joy to carry and shoot. This is the first #1 in over 45 years of shooting and it is a fun gun.
Here is a pix of mine. It's wearing the Tasco 8X32 target dot scope in the picture. I put a Weaver Classic 3-9 on for winter yotes. I'm going to get another set of rings so I can just interchange them. It would make sighting in much easier.

I'm still planning to refinish the stock when the chores lighten up. First order of business is make it shoot with some good handloads. You can see a little tiger stripe figure in the wood if you look through all the brown gunk CZ puts on the stock. The grain is more noticible now than it was 7 months ago when I bought it but still heavily masked by the finish. That #1 you have is a beauty. My #1 has some nice grain too but it only jumps out at you with the proper light.
