Just spoke with Marshall today (3/20/06) and here is the latest -

First of all Marshall wishes everyone well and regrets not being able to spend time on the forums. Unfortunately goofing off doesn't pay the bills :D (no gov't. worker jokes here, please).

Bullets: orders are about 6-8 weeks backlogged, as of this writing. Some things may ship sooner, depending on what you order, as he casts in pretty big batches. He expects to be caught up by around the first of May or so.

Historically, the summer months aren't as busy and he would expect there to be little or no backlog for 3 months or so.

Advice: If you want to shoot this summer, get your orders in now. If you want to hunt this fall, don't wait till Sept. 1 to order. Order in early summer, if you can. Not only will this get you your bullets sooner, it will make his life a little easier to not be as backlogged in the fall. Plus he likes have time to hunt too!

Technical issues:

We still have a persistent issue with some people not getting notified of PMs, etc. One of our forum members kindly sent me a possible solution to this. I've sent it to Marshall, and he's going to send it to Alex. Hopefully we'll get this resolved soon. When the fix goes in, I'll update this post so people can test.

Thanks for your participation, and patience!

Hey Mike,

There's no doubt that the best are worth waiting for. Marshall had his 45 cal Sledgehammers on sale a while back. I bought a thousand, and nine hundred are in my storage locker. These will keep both my brother and myself hunting for several years.

Marshall, keep up the good work!

The news is not unexpected, but not uncommon.
(good cast bullets are in high demand)

I am really enjoying my last order and will likely order some more here in the next month.

Thanks for the update!!!

Greetings acerman, and welcome!

In addition to hosting our forum, Marshall manufacturers a series of excellent cast bullets. Go to the very top of the page in the forum and click on the "Beartooth Bullets" tab. You will be directed to Beartooth's (Marshall's) home page. Click on the "bullet Selection" quadrant (upper left) to go to his on-line catalog.

While you're there, take a look at some of the articles with links over on the right, under the "What's New" heading. There is a wealth of knowledge and information there, also available from links on the left to "Tips and Comments" and "Tech Notes."

I think you're gonna like it here.

I know he casts to order, but does he usually have some common bullets in stock(like .452)?

Maybe. He sometimes does an overrun on the more popular bullets, but when they're gone, they're gone until the next order comes in and takes it's place in line.

Depends on the time of year... when casting gets slow in the summer, I know he tries to run ahead on popular stuff.

Spoke with Marshall again a few days ago. Much to his surprise, bullet orders are steady, and he's still 4-6 weeks behind (although trying to keep pace with the more popular orders).

Also, since I have an interest in this, I bugged him about a .500 offering.... he has moulds on order, but probably won't get them till August. But he will have two different weights, probably a 440 WFN and then a lighter 400-ish grain bullet, nose profile not yet set in stone.

Well, knowing I would have to wait a while, I decided to place another order well in advance.

Taurus 454 casull and Ruger Redhawk 45lc is consuming most of my range time. My Winchester 94AE 45LC is also eating up 45cal bullets faster than expected.

Any status on where the backlog sits today?

No idea, to be honest. As little of Marshall as we've seen on the forum.... I'd guess about the same.

Hello Gentlemen!

As Mike has so aptly said, I'm backlogged about the same as his last report on this thread. However, I am getting ahead on some bullets, having a modest selection of .44's, .45LC's amd .357's in stock at this time, and a relatively complete selection of our .45 caliber rifle bullets on the shelf at all times.

I do make over-runs on each bullet that I gear up for during any given run, and while there are modest inventories of many bullets in stock from time-to-time, the .45 Pile-Drivers and Pile-Driver Jrs. are almost always on the shelf.... it seems I just can't make too many of these things, so I run them often, and in quantity.

Thanks to all for your patience! As per my practices here, I WILL NOT compromise quality for quantity, so once you finally receive your orders, neither of us will be disappointed!

Take care, and God bless,

It's the flat on the nose of a bullet.

MikeG

Correct answer..... on a cast bullet for hunting, the flat is what does the tissue damage. Wider is better, as the commercial says.

Welcome to the forum!

Any idea how far back some of the order are taking to get to folks?

Meaning, if I ordered bullets 8 weeks ago, would I see it anytime soon?

Regarding order backlogs and an update on order shipping status:

As of today, all orders greater than ten days old will have been shipped this afternoon, with many orders received being shipped either the next day or within three days!

We've worked to eliminate the backlog and are shipping promptly at the current time. If a hunting bullet is on your shopping list we can fill the orders at this time in very short order.

Thanks to all for their patience while we worked our way through the backlog earlier this year.

God bless,

Hay Marshall does that mean your getting out tomarrow for the opener. I'm hunting the dwarshak area 10A in the morning. Just got a deer tag, but my old hunting partner got an elk tag so he's ready for both.

Hope you get out it looks to be a darned fine day coming.

Shame on you guy's for taking food away from those poor imported wolves. :p :D :D

Yes Bob,

I'll be taking the first six hours of the day off anyhow. Just going to hunt up behind the house, but there are a few young bulls up there that need to be saved from the wolves! Figure I can give one of those youngsters a nice warm reception many nights this winter if we can just arrange a meeting time and place in the morning! Won't be any wall-hangers coming down this way I don't expect but a few two and three year old bulls that have been kicked out by the herd bulls on the somewhat exclusive private spread to the north of me.

Hey, it's all good. I'm into leftovers!

Hope you have a good time down on the Clearwater. I used to hunt down there on the late muzzleloader season, but when I get visual contact with more wolves than elk two seasons in a row, it's time to find more productive ground. I'll sorely miss that late season down there, hunting in some serious snow, but back here behind the house is handy, and I can be to my favorite spot back here in under half an hour, hunt for four to six hours and still get in a decent work-day as well.

Keep us posted on your success!

God bless,

A note to all of you with bullet orders in to BTB.

Marshall Stanton is working his one-man operation for extra long hours 7 days a week trying to catch up on orders. Has quite a backlog of orders right now due to health problems earlier in the year that curtailed his ability to fill them promptly.

Be patient - he's working on them as fast as possible to ship only quality bullets to his customers.

He also asked today that his best regards be forwarded to all the BTB many members.

A quick update on our backlog.... at current ( but also subject to change depending upon hunting season demands) I'm shipping orders within a week to ten days maximum right now, and many orders next day or two to three days out as many of our more popular bullets are on the shelf ready to ship.

Many thanks to all this spring and summer for their patience as we've worked our way through the backlog that health issues exaserbated in early spring. We appreciate all our customers, and hope to once again turn our orders around in a timely manner, so long as we don't get too swamped during the hunting seasons this fall.

Thanks again, and God bless,

Good news. As soon as funds become available I will be ordering my bullets for next off season. I am good for this season unless I shoot more than 18 deer with the little lever.

Thanks for what you do.
