My wife and I are taking a little get away trip to Savannah, GA this weekend. Lo and behold there is a gunshow in town. I've been wanting to go to one (haven't been in 30 years) and this should be convenient.

Now my question: am I correct in assuming few if any of the dealers there will take credit cards? On the off chance I should find the rifle I want to buy it will probably cost $1,000-1200. I am uneasy carrying that much cash around in Savannah.

The only thing I can come up with is some travelers checks and a little cash.

Most of the people at the gunshows I attend are actual dealers and usually take credit cards. HOWEVER, cash does tend to sweeten the deal a bit. All nondealers do not take credit cards, but most will take a check. This is from my own personal experience, each show is different so I cannot say for sure at the show you will be going to.

Go to the show, them southern boys understand how to buy and sell guns. You shouldn't have any problems.

Savannah is an interesting place to visit. You can go down along the river and have yourself some pretty tasty eats. We evacuated to Savannah from Palm Bay, FL during the hurricane season last year with 3 horses. The people are real nice.

Have not been to an "Eastman's" in Savannah. Been to several around Atlanta. It can be hit and miss. Many appeared to be Pawn shops dealers trying to get rid of surplus inventory (junk). If you know what you want, walk the whole floor before buying at the first dealer you come arcoss that has it. There is an "enterance fee", about $7.00.

If you have a GA carry permit, you can walk out with your pistol there. If not, a background check must be done. Usually does not take long.

Cash is always best, more negotiation power and cheaper. Credit cards usually have 10% added on to the price. Try to get them to include "sales tax" into the final price (cash only).

Remember, if you buy at a gun show and sometime later you find something wrong with the gun, it can be difficult to get your money back.
