I was between a rock and a hard place. The pawn shop had a Marlin 336T (18 1/2 inch barrel and straight stock). It looked to be brand new and they only wanted $275 which included taxes.

A friend of mine wanted my 444P. It was equiped with a scout scope mount and 2 to 7 power scout. So I gave in and sold the 444P, reloading dies, brass, and 265 grain bullets.

Then I purchased the 336T and a 35 Marlin. The blueing is good on the 35 Marlin, but the wood needs work. It will make a good shooter. In other words, I am not worried about getting a scratch on it.

What would you have done?

Sounds to me like a WIN WIN situation.

Or to be more accurate, a "Mar - Mar" situation. (This coming from a dedicated Winchester owner. . . (I own a 45-70 made by Marlin so this isn't the beginnings of a war here.)

I've been looking for a 35 Remington locally without any luck.

This does show the enigma of lever actions, you can never really reduce the numbers that you own.

While I'm partial to the 444, it sounds like you done good. I hope they shoot well for you.

I'm now worried that you will regret selling the 444P. These will be the "375" of this decade. You might want to go back and buy it back. Having all three is a win situation.
