The 303 has a couple of quirks. Bore size varies considerably from barrel to barrel, so it really pays to have that bore slugged. Waht you want are two numbers...the real world diameter of the bore from goove to goove and from land to land. If you know that, making the bullet the right size so that the nose of the slug is well suported by the lands while the base is large enough to fill the grooves pretty much takes care of it.

Some of the barrels are on the rough side even when brand new, and these tend to lead a bit....the ones that are a bit eroded lead more.

The older Loverin style molds, with nearly no nose to speak of, have worked well with lettle effort if casting .313"...some bores will like .312" but many are larger than standard and may want .314" or larger.

That Lee bullet has a nose section. Can try it in the muzzle end (just stick the bullet nose into the barrel)...if there is wiggle room, then chances are it won't shoot all that great.

Ribbonstone - thanks for the info, i am using strait wheelweights and bullets are coming out .3115, which might be slightly undersized. i will clean the bore real good and won't push the bullets too fast.
