I just put a LSI 92 .357mag on layaway today..I was wondering what to expect from it? should I prepare for the worst meaning order new sights etc...I know I'll refinish the wood its kinda dark..I just couldn't pass up a stainless 92 in .357mag.. I have a winchester trapper in .44 mag..I also have a old savage 99 in .30-30. I perfer the pistol calibers for many reasons most of all they come 50 to a box..I hunt hogs and small texas deer so wizzums arent nessary..I have a stevens .30-06 If I ever go elk hunting but I dought that..
Anways anybody here from north texas??

Iowaloha GUTSHOT,
I was just reading the posts and saw that this was your first. You have asked questions that I can't answer. You may be assured that someone on this board can.
I like 50 to a box too! I am seeing them 20 to a box more and more. Beer is the same way. 18 and 30 packs. I thought we decided not to use the metric system long ago?
I hand load most all of my ammunition so is not much of a bother. Is just my observation
I have 2 lever rifles. Neither are "big bore". Love them both and they are not for sale.
Welcome to the message boards. I think this is a good group.

G'day & welcome to the site .The 357 in a lever is natty little round that gives much pleasure .I'd be looking at reloading to get the best out of it & play around with loads & bullet wieghts until you find what it likes.

Welcome to the forum. This is one of the LSI Rossi's with the 24" Oct barrel chambered in 357Mag. It to had the blck finish on it that I quickly stripped off and applied a nice hand rubbed Tru-Oil finish to. What to expect??? Expect pure bliss!!! :)

Think you can expect to refinish the stock, but as it is not beat up and in need of repair, that's going to be a pleasurable job. Whatever it is that they finish these guns with, its easy to get off....often with just solvents.
One you have the wood off to refinish, may as well clean the metal. Be surprised at the times you'll find metal shavings and congealed grease in a brand new gun...starting out life clean and lightly lubed is nice. Don't have to detail dissassemble, can get at the major parts once the stock is off by dunk and paintbrush.
As for the sights...who knows? Is a matter of eyesight and personal preference. I've had no real trouble shooting well with the issue sights.

I see you have taken pride in yourn..I was thinking about refinishing my stock and sanding down some of the straight edges off the forearm.

That's a pretty piece. If it shoots half as good as it looks you got a keeper.

That's beautiful! I just picked up a new Winchester 94 in 357 magnum. The wood isn't anywhere near as good looking as yours.
