Yes, I am the proud new owner of this beauty.

I was looking at a Remington Rangemaster also, but the stock was so crooked it might as well have been twisted around the barrel.

But this sucker is a little lighter. Not a whole lot, since its still a 26" S/S bull barrel, but it will do. :D

The trigger pull isn't half bad. Might have to rework it a little more. There is a slight creep, but less than most of my guns.

Gotta mount a scope and get some ammo so I can't shoot it for a while, but when I do I will update.

:D :D :D :D :D :D

Most new Ruger #1's will be greatly aided by putting in a moyer trigger. There are several other tricks to make these single shot rifles shoot good groups.

I shoot a #1B in 243. It's a 1969 model. I get groups right around an inch at a hundred. This is the first #1 I've owned and after shooting it for a couple of years I'm pretty pleased with it.

I shoot a 3X9 Weaver Classic on it for coyotes and in the spring an 8X30 Tasco Target scope goes on it for ground squirrels.

Good luck with your new Ruger. Here's a couple of pix of mine.

Nice gun.
Is that benchrest, a sandbag, just a table with elbows or what?

I got it for long range small critters so I will plan on doing some stuff to mke it as accurate as possible. I still have the 243 and I will use that for coyotes too, but that is my dads. This one is my 'I don't care if it gets scratched or it starts pooring rain' gun.

I plan on putting on a biod at some point.

I will check out that trigger. I haven't looked into much for the No1 interms of aftermarket, but I figured there will be enough for making it better.

The stock being two pieces doesn't look like it will lend itself to free floating lol....or glass bedding?

Brownell's sells a deal for floating the barrel and besides the moyor trigger you can put a single set kipplinger trigger in one. There is an article in the tech section on making the #1 more accurate. Here's a site that does some good accuracy work on the #1

http://www.eabco.com/Ruger03.html

I have several bolt action rifles that are more accurate then the #1, but this gun is a joy to carry and shoot. I have a sitdown bi-pod I use for yote and squirrel hunting.

The rest is one I built for my bench rest. It was kinda copied from a couple in Cabala's catalog and is made to reduce recoil from heavy recoiling rifles.

It took a little scrap iron and my welder. It holds a 20 pound bag of shot for the big boomers.
