Besides bulk you can reload. I started out years ago with one of the little Lee reloaders. There under 20 bucks from Midway and make really good reloads.
A pound of powder, a hundred primers and a hundred bullets will last a while.
Here is a site to check them out. I loaded hundreds and hundreds of 357 magnum pistol with one of these little pocket loaders and saved a bundle.

Plus by reloading you can make the round do what you want it to do. Les

I agree with the reloading option...
I got started into reloading for reducing the cost of my 45-70 and lack of 7-30 Waters.
Now I load for 11 calibers and always on the lookout for more. :)

I was told by a few different long-time reloaders not to bother with reloading 30-30 rounds as the rounds are no cheaper new than reloaded. Is this true?

I think that 30-30 ammo is still about as cheap as you can find ANY big-game ammo. But if that's still too expensive for you, you have to reload. Bullets will be the most expensive part of the equation, but they don't spoil, so if you find them on sale, buy a thousand - or two. Do find the bullet that your gun likes best before you buy in bulk, but in truth, there won't be a huge difference among brands of bullets designed for the 30-30.
Cast lead bullets may be a thing of the past within several years, simply because of the enviro-whackos. But while you still can, cast bullets are an even cheaper solution for most of your shooting.

For those of you that use wheel weights get all you can NOW! they ARE on the way out!, you can no longer get them in Kalifornia and the other states are fallowing closely, our suppliers have told us this and are aggressively trying to get us to purchase the "alternative" weights, I need to order some before lead is GONE in Oregon!

I just bought 6 boxes of Federal 30-30 at Walmarts for $8.00 a box. That is about as cheap as I have seen it lately.
