I'm a life long shooter and hunter, and also been reloading since the mid 70's. I'm not a magnum fan since here in Alabama I see little need for one. I'm also learning to love Savage rifles more than any other, as they will typically out group almost any thing else reguardless of price. As I was once told by another shooter( Take a lesson in economics) and try one for your self. I did and I'm hooked! I have a Marlin 1895 that also shoots better than it's supposed to, but I cant get the accuracy I want from cast bullets. Perhaps some of you have a few tricks up your sleeve I havn't tried. I have my own 250 yard shooting range complete with concrete bench and multiple target stands. I started my reloading career with all RCBS equipment but I've turned to LEE the last several years and I like it very much. Everyone should have their hand press and for less than $25 it's almost a freebee, nice to load at the range. I load my 40 sw on a Dillon RL 550 and It's plenty fast. As you can see I have my own opinions and I'm sure you all want agree with me on all of them but thats OK. I'd like to here from you.

fornra Welcome to the forum. Rules are simple, be nice and join in.

I too use Lee equipment and also started out with that Green stuff.

Living out here in Idaho I have some of them magnums in the safe, along with a couple of 243's, a 280 Remington Mtn. Rifle and a 308.

I havn't delved into the Savages, but got to agree they are very accurate rifles out of the box.

As I've been getting older my hunting has changed a bunch, I can't climb up and down the mountians like I used to.

I do a lot more still hunting and let those young folks chase the animals around, hopefully right past me.

Again welcome to the forum.

fornra,

Welcome aboard. Yep, gotta agree with you on the Savage rifles. Most of them anymore will shoot like a house of fire right out of the box. Got a .25-06 in the safe right now that consistently shoots better than I do.

Welcome fornra! A very nice bunch of folks here. Sit down and enjoy your self. As I have found out there is much to learn and everybody here is pretty knowlageable and willing to share and help out if you have a question.

As my handle dictates I'm a fan of things that move you when you pull the trigger :D Although I love to shoot anything from one my 22's to my 300RUM and 44mag.

My reloading bench looks like the bargain page on a reloading suppliers website. I've got RCBS, Lee, Lyman, Bonanza/Forster and Herters dies and 3 brands of presses, Lyman, Herter's and a Forster Co Ax. They all work for me although I'm leaning more towards Lee's stuff as well.

Welcome, I picked up a 250-3000 as my very first Savage, it is a great rifle, picked up the 303 as my second, but alas I am a Marlin guy through and through, especialy the 100+ year old ones.
