Here we go agian!!!!!
Go to www.craigdailypress.com/section/archive/story/21384
Hopefully there will be some public meatings about this. I know that area livestock producers will be up in arms, literally.
I particularly like the part where Ms. Patterson states " the wolves will be tracked and confined to the park" Yeah right!!!

There were some meetings a few years ago. Attendees were charged admission.
Could be interesting when the eastern slope park elk winter in downtown Estes Park.

That's gonna make for some interesting encounters in those upscale mountain neighborhoods all around and way too close to the park.

Wait till they show up near Boulder!! I painted houses up in the foothills quite a bit. Lots of people living no where near water, and remotly enough that getting water to them is a serious issue. Add some sharp teeth to that mix too! Oh boy...
Estes is a neat town. Hope it doesn't get too outta control.

In my experience there are already enough "wolves" in Colorado. Take a look at whats happening here in Idaho with our much publized "Stanley wolf pack" re-introduced in the Stanley Idaho area a number of years ago and then moved north and released into the wild, the state of Idaho fish and game is now considering elimination of a number of the wolves due to decreased elk populations. Perhaps we could just ship them to Colorado and make everyone happy. Are you guys in Colorado sure you don't have a wolf pack already, I swear I heard a wolf call late one night after attending a Golden Buffs football game and having a few of Colorados famous brews. Musta just been a fat Nebraska cheerleader squaling after losing the game.

I spoke to one hunter a few years ago that claimed he had seen some west of Boulder. They may have been the "domesticated hybrids" that are popular with some yuppie macho-wanna-be's. Several years ago I saw such an individual with 2 that looked like pure wolves on a leash at the U of Colorado campus in Boulder. SINAPU, the pro wolf group, is very strong in Boulder, I don't know if they're the same activists promoting prairie dog rescue, but I wouldn't bet against it.

Ahh yes, the carriers of the plague. We definitly need to protect them...
My sister-in-laws April Fool's joke this year was to email the family and tell us she and my brother had decided to replace the recently deceased family dog with a wolf-hybrid..."Fang"....their two young sons couldn't be happier. We laffed. But your's is an unfortunate truth: people think wild animals make good pets. When I was a kid, some people in the neighborhood evidently had a wolf-hybrid that mangled some family's pets.
Now, I know there are plenty of dog lovers in the crowd. But, people tend to forget that even the most well behaved and trained dog can snap and bite/kill. People do it all the time. Why people forget that animals are still animals is beyond me. Sure, some breeds are generally safer than others. Nonetheless, they are animals. How many dogs have biten people who are owned by someone who has uttered the phrase "my dog would never..."? "Domesticating" a wolf??? Riiiiiiight. Can't help but be reminded of the...um...gentleman up north who played with grizzlies one day too long.

That reminds me........... Our doctor neighbor when we lived up in Ennis MT had 2 wolf hybrids. Seemed harmless enough while in their kennel but when they got "let out" they were pretty much uncontrolable. They started chasing deer and the doc's own horses. And boy could they howl!!! The sound would amke your hair stand on end and push the hat right off your head!! He'd bring them by when they were puppies "because my 2 boys (5 and 6 at the time) liked to play with them" NOT. They knocked Nick down once and scared the poop out of him so I told the doc to leave his (@)^% pups at home. One of them I think someone disposed of and I'm not sure what became of the other one. This doc later went off the deep end, had some run ins with the law after of all things trying to rob a bank in I think Idaho Falls. Weird sort of feller even before that.

Dogs are omnivores Wolves are Carnivores if you cross a wolf and a Dog you are only getting the worst of both species. Dog Wolf hybrids are responsible for many of the wolf horror stories you hear they grow up and the owners cannot handle them so release them in what the owner thinks is a wild place.
While well fed wolves in the real wild tend to be shy around humans guess where the hybrids are used to getting food? they have no fear of people and when hungry are more apt to go to prople for food, garbage cans , pets, llivestock, children it really don't matter. I see alot on here about Wolves being reintroduced, It is like putting Great white sharks in the town swimming pool or baracuda. Several years ago sombody dumped the Parahna they had in an Aquarium in a small lake near Tucson AZ. it was found out after a kid was chewed up then the lake was closed and poisoned to remove them and what ever other fish were still there.

To put it kindly, people are, um, silly.
Really sad when thoughtless action results in someone else's tragedy.
Just goes to prove that WE are truly the most dangerous animal out there.
