My son and I like to recycle milk jugs. We use them to hold milk. Then we use them for ballistic testing( that part also waters the lawn). Then we burn them so as to reduce waste to the landfill and help to keep our property warm.

"How many milkjugs will a .22 go through Dad?" I remembered six. My son wanted to see. I put him to work filling and getting things set up. When he was done, we had 15 water filled jugs in a straight line. A well placed shot went through 4 jugs and was found in the 5th.

Range was near 17 yards.
Firearm was my 77/22 (he wants it)
Ammo was Federal 36grain copper plated HV hollow point bulk pack #750.

I took a pitcure of the recovered bullet for forum review.
I am not impressed with bullet performance. It is ok for "plinking". I would not recomend it for harvesting small game animals. It is fine for varmits. I can shoot 50 yard groups near an inch with it+/-?
It was fun.

I'm impressed it went through 4. Were they one gallon jugs? Good lesson for your son.

Cheezy, where are you from originally?

Yes Flashhole, were one gallon jugs. I did the same stuff as a boy. It is fun to do with my son.

Was born in Oklahoma. I have lived in several states. Iowa is home.

Plastic milk jugs and such are a great way to have fun shooting.I always take them along on our shoots.
My latest was setting up 6(1 gallon) milk jugs in a row and firing a full house .50AE from a Desert Eagle from about 8 ft.Nedless to say I got drenched. It totally obliterated the first three jugs and blew sections out of the rest.Quite a show! Didn't have enough jugs to capture the(325gr.) bullet!
