I came across one of these in a retail gun shop. They are asking $600 for it. It's new, never been fired. I'm not sure if they have the box. It sure handles nice with that long barrel. Is this a reasonable price? They have had it for a while.

Seems like I read that there may be a problem with the throat diameter being too small, especially for cast bullets. Is there anything to this? Is there a work around for this? Any info appreciated.

You might want to try doing a search on this as far as the suitability for cast. I know I have answered this same question a few times and there are some good discussions about it on this site that should answer all your questions.

If it is one of the ones with a oversized groove, .381 or larger it requires thinning the brass (neck turning or reaming) for bullets .381 or larger. Most are .379 groove and mine measures .3785 and it will shoot .377 - .379 equally well. $600 I don't know about that but they are no longer being produced in 38-55 so if you want one? I would not hesitate too long, the cal is a good one and very few had the oversized groove. Early ones have checkering. The WW jacketed is very anemic, Barnes originals in jacketed are expensive and .377 dia. Stone Fence, makes jacketed in .378 and work well.

I saw the $600 price tag on the Marlins as well (or higher!!!) and instead rebarreled a Win94.

Found one at a gunstore years ago with a shot out barrel and no front sight. (it fell off)

Cost me $450, including a Smith ladder buckhorn rear sight. Problem is going to be finding the parts. (the forearm band is a b*tch to track down)
