I'm 15 years old and in 10th grade in HS. Ive been shooting as long as I can remeber. I have access to 22's shotguns from 10 ga to .410 a few rifles and a hand full of handguns including a few 22s a 357 a 44 mag a 38 and a 9mm. So Ive been around guns ever since I was little. I also shoot bows which Ive been doin for a while. Guns arent accepted too good here in Jersey so its not real fun living here. Well I guess I'll meet you all soon enough.

Welcome Chris, A lot good of information available for the asking. If you have a question, don't hesitate to ask, even if you think it might be viewed as silly. Someone here will have the answer, or at least point you in the right direction.
There are a couple of OLD fellas that lurke in the Humor section that might pull your leg, but nothing that would get you hurt, unless you fall out of your chair from laughter.
You're in good company here, so relax and enjoy the fellowship.

heck Recoil Junky, my Dad is younger than you!!! He graduated in 77, my Mom was a cradle robber (she turns 54 next month), they got married right before he turned 20 and they had me 2 years later, of course, unlike Kdub, DOK and m1894, the dirt was cool by the time you showed up Welcome Chris

Bienvenidos Chris,
Welcome from Texas. You are are blessed young man having someone in your life that introduced you to the art and fun of shooting. To shoot and enjoy weapons one must respect and understand it for what it is....a tool. Someone is teaching you well.
Take care , be safe and Godspeed,
Greg

JB I actually graduated in '77. My sister graduated in '73 so that's where that referance is coming from. And she's a grandmother twice so that makes her REAL old. :D
Oh yeah, thanks for the part about the dirt being cool.
Young wipper snappers always making smart alec comments. One of these days Norton, POW right in the kisser!!

Welcome Chris
and I hang out in the humor section and I don't consider myself old. In 1973 or 1977, I wasn't even a glimmer in my daddy's eye.

Hey RJ,
Who's this Norton guy?
Chris, welcome to the forums. Beware the humor section! It's populated by people like DOK and niner. Go see your family phsycian for innoculations against bad jokes. ;) Me? I'm too far gone for that.
And I thought the phrase was, "Older than dirt". Never heard about dirt cooling before. Either way, go ahead and ask any question you need answered. I may have asked all the dumb ones myself by now.

In the TV show "The Honeymooners" staring Jackie Gleason the neighbor's name was "Norton". Ralph ( Jackie Gleason) was alwasy going to "punch out " Norton. It was either "one of these days POW right in the kisser" or "I'm going to punch you to the moon Norton, to the moon".
Some of you old farts :D can help me out if I got he dialog off a little.
The difference between "older than dirt" and "before the dirt was cool" is it took time for the earth's crust to cool and dirt ro start forming. So, being around since "before the dirt cooled" is older than "as old as dirt".
I graduated hs in '77 and college in '85. I went back to school in '83 after I got married in '82. I was the oldest "kid" in most of my college classes.
JB I've got socks older than you! :o

Welcome Chris, just ignore these wipper snappers, old is in the mind. I think I have one someplace, Class of 69. We get better with age just like fine wine, and I have granddaughters that are 10 and 6.

Another hearty welcome from down in Texas Chris ... Sure-Shot hit it squarely ... age is just a number. Who you are and what you do is all that matters. There's a great bunch on this forum and we're all glad to hear you enjoy shooting. Keep it up.

And in your back... Trust me! :D
Still, I won't go down without a fight. Planning on more than a few trips in the sheep mountains here in Alaska, a few more trips to Africa and have got the serious thought of going sheep hunting in Asia. Bad back or no...

RJ,
Nickelodeon used to have Honeymooners reruns on so I know who Norton was. Even have relatives older than dirt and that was befor dirt cooled they are proud to let you know. Just having fun at the expense of those older and slower than I am knowing someone else younger is going to take advantage of my advancing years as well. ;)
Yep, age is all in the mind, and in the back and knees. Let's not forget the knees. All that stuff we do as bullet-proof teenagers comes back to haunt us later. I just never believed it at 15-18.
Alyeska, I know what you mean about not slowing down. I'll be the creaky, newly minted yellow belt in his first Tae Kwon Do tournament breaking boards and sparring Saturday. It's because I can climb up the mountain to hunt sheep, but my knees won't let me hike back down. :D
