I only have a couple of sources for free wheelweights and I need more so I called the salvage yard that picks up my old water heaters, furnaces, a/c's etc.( I'm in the HVAC business).
They quoted me $.32 pound for wheelweights. That's a lot more expensive than free but is that the going price now? I know all the scrap prices have sailed up because I just got $1.90 # for clean (no fittings etc ) scrap copper pipe.
What kind of prices are other people seeing out there?

Gee, I can't even find them anymore. When I lived in CA I had a great source, and they were free. Now I can't even find them. Seems there's someone who has all the tire places on his route and he's got them all nailed down. I'm sure I could go to one of the big scrap yards in Dallas/Ft. Worth, and I expect there it's 30-40 cents a pound... Bummer in the summer..

If you cast, now's the time to be stockpiling.

The anti's are working hard to make lead illegal for private ownership. It'll start with requiring it to be transported only by hazmat-certified haulers.

Goodyear already has that as a corporate policy - just a matter of time b4 it's law.

I surely hope this isn't going to be a trend of things to come.

Just bought lead ingot for .40 cents at a scrap yard in Logansport, IN. I hope the price does not rise up any higher.

Well I guess it 's time to go to the shooting pits to scrong up all the bullets!! I think I paid $5 for a gallon bucket full of wheel weights -that was 4 years ago. Still have about 20 pounds left.

I just scored 200lbs of WW for .08 cents a lb from a local tire mart. They told me to keep checking back:)

Those prcises for scrap WWs are way too high. The scrap dealer is charging you scrap lead price, not WW price. I believe they are currently buying WWs at less than $.10 per pound. The last wws that I scrapped yielded only 6.5 cents per #. By the way number one copper is $2.41/# and number 2 is $2.21/ #

If have any old brass, now is the time to get rid of it, prices are through the roof. Greg

Processed (cleaned and smelted) wheel weights go for $.50 to $.80 shipped... on ebay at least.

I have one source who is haggling with me for $.40/lb locally.
