What methods do you guys use to store your 8mm ammo that comes in the paper boxes? I have a quantity of Yugo 8x57 stored in the basement. It’s dry down there but there probably is a better way of storing it.
Thanks - Brad
A metal ammo box with dissecant and stored in a cool, dry place would be best.

Have heard stories from people down here about the flood. One guy had his stuff stashed in big plastic boxes with snap on lids (the cheap ones sold at Dollar Stores)...he added a bit of silicon calk to the lid. Stuff floated all over his house, but everything inside was dry.
I've started sealing some of my new ammo stash in those seal-a-meal type deals...where it's vaccum packed and melted/sealed. I found some battle packed .308's that survived the flood that were packaged this way.
GI ammo boxes are good. Test the old ones for leaks/ the little rubber gasket sometimes gets old or splits.

I have all my ammo in .50 cal ammo cans, and a few .30 cal cans in my walk-in closet, on the second floor. They rest on top of My gun safe. Some ammo I leave in boxes out in the open, it won't be around long. ;) I did make one mistake, I brought an old ammo crate into my basement, my wife put it on the floor, w/ the flood last night I don't think the paper shotgun shells survived, maybe they did? there was only 1/4" of water in the crate when I saw it last night. I always say, never in the basement, so what did I do!
