I have a project rifle it is an AC prefix 336RC that came in parts with part of humpty dumpty missing. I need an old style front barrel band. I have a new style and it doesnt fit, before I take a rat tail file to the barrel and "make it fit" I'm looking for the right part.

Howdy Big,

THe Brownells catalog that I have here lists a bunch of 336s including a 336C, but not an RC: "band, front..... $10.96"

Reckon it will work?

Best.

Steve

Nope....They have the New style band. Marlin changed the front ever so slightly in the early 80's. To look at the bands they look exactly the same, they only difference is the screw. The old style has a thinner screw. With the new style band the screw is too big around and it doesnt fit in the groove on the bottom of the barrel, maby with a rat tail file that could be fixed. I have a line on one now and it should be the correct one. I had no idea that Marlin changed the bands until the one I got wouldnt fit.....Guess ya learn something every day.
