I've got a weird one. I have a Saeco 62454 two cavity mold. It is supposed to cast a 300 grain 454 gas check bullet.
Iwas sizing and lubing a few tonight, when I noticed the gas check shanks on some of them looked short.
I started weighing them and noticed half came in right at 300 grains. The other halfhowever weighed right at 295 grains.
I got out the mike and found that half measured .760" and the other half .748".
I just started using this mold,so I guess a call to Saeco is in order.

By all means, contact them and return the mold. Have had good experiences with Saeco customer relations and expect they will make this right for you. Let us know the outcome.

It sounds like one cavity wasn't cut as deep as the other one. This wasn't all that rare in the old days.

Bye

This is a new mold.
I tried calling them today, but they aren't open on weekends.

Well, I got the mold back from Saeco last week. It took so long because I dinked around before sending it back. After they got it , they took one lookat it and replaced it. Then, they sent it USPS Parcel Post. One of the mules must have gotten sick, because it took nearly THREE WEEKS to arrive.
I even called them to check on it. I spoke to the srevice dept. They remembered me from my first call, and told me it had been cut wrong. They also said the guy who cut it was looking for work. The new guy looked at it and laughed.
The new mold is a beauty. Cast perfect almost from the first. I have made and loaded about 500 bullets from it. Now, if it will quit raining, I will get to shoot them this weekend.
It's a shame to buy a defective mold, but you csn't beat that kind of service.

Saeco makes some nice molds and their customer service is top notch. Had several Saeco molds that I bought used and they were missing the washer on the sprue plate. Emailed Saeco asking them for a price on new washers. They sent me some for free along with their latest catalogue. Glad to hear they did right on your mold. Too bad they trusted in USPS Parcel Post otherwise known as snailmail. Happy casting.

This is my first Saeco Mold. If they are all like this, it won't be my last.
