I put another 18 rounds throught the revolver, reslugged and Fed it some real stuff.
My slugs read .431 on both ends, but it is just slightly tight at the breach. I'm going to leave it alone here, I am comfortable with the slight tightness keeping the bullet in line as it gets all snug in the bore.
Anyway, I used some 429421's with 17.0gr of 2400 on the before and after.
Before got me a best of 2.5" at 25 yards with iron sights and sand bag rests. The after was, well, surprising.
My first two were touching, the third was an inch away at 7 O'clock, the 4th touched the first two and the 5th and 6th ended up an inch away from the first two at 11 O'clock. In reality it's a 2 inch group, but if there was a silver doller in the bullseye, it would have three holes on it. All in all, I'm incredible pleased with that result.
Now, the next cylinder full gave me no better results than the "before" groups, but I think that was me. I lost my sight picture when I changed my targets and was probably exceited about the first group.
At the end of the day, I'm just glad I didn't ruin the gun pushing rocks down the barrel at 600 fps. A year ago, I would have cried "Blasphemy", today I'm a believer.
