View Full Version : 300 rum powders
HI I have been testing reloads for my rem 700 300rum. However I want to test various powders and have tried reloader 22, 25 and IMR 4381 and 4850 and 7828. So far I have found that reloader 25 and imr 4381 give the the best groups. I want to try reloader 19 but only fine info on 150gr bullets. which start at 88gr. I shoot 180gr and 220gr bullets but do not fine reload info using reloader 19 on those size of bullets. Does any one have any experience shooting reloader 19 and what is the rule of thumb when working up a load in this situation.
Any info would be helpful. Thanks KS

I've found the slower the powder (7828, Reloader 25, H1000)the better it works for heavy bullets. It goes the other way with lighter bullets, 165's and lighter. H4831ssc, 4350, Reloader 22. I've only tried up to 180's in mine and don't plan to go bigger.
Reloader 19 might be "to fast" to work well in the RUM because of powder density and not being able to get the case full enough. I know mine really likes compressed loads and you can't get a compressed load with 4831, althugh mine likes H4831ssc with 165's.
With 180's I'm going to try Reloade 25, I just haven't got to it yet.

RL 25 with 180gr. bullets are the ticket.
I didn't get near max either for mine and had incredible accuracy.
