i just purchased a new k10/22 and was wondering what type of ammo you guys have had the best accuracy with. it has a 22 inch barrel rather than the 18 1/2 inch barrel. i bought it for a squirrel gun and have ordered a simmons 22mag 3x9x32 for it, haven't had a chance to experiment with it yet was wondering what your opinions would be on it.

youwill have to experiment. Three things to look at are bedding the action forward of the action screw, fixing the trigger, and spec-ing the chamber to .042.

.22 headspaces on the rim so finding the right ammunition is important to not having flyers. Typically bulk promotional ammo has wide variances in rim thickness which will result in the occasional flyers. I have had very good luck with CCI mini mags solids as a starting point. Any match ammo will be consistant in rim thickness but that stuff is expensive.

Recently I have had some success with Remington subsonic, you might want to give it a try in your rifle....btw

put a towell on the table at the range and work some cheap (gray uncoated) .22 shells through your action catching the unfired rounds on the soft towell. Closely examine them for scrape marks (shiny marks). If you have them then locate and clean up the sharp protrusions. Also, learn to disassemble and re assemble your magazines...

I've usually had pretty good luck with CCI Mini Mags in most of my 22's. It's a good compromise between between relatively low cost and good performance.

I usually keep several types of match ammo on hand for testing, but I don't shoot it that often. I don't even buy the cheap bulk ammo anymore. It just doesn't shoot well in any of my guns.

When I owned a 10/22 mine was very accurate with CCI Velocitors. Had it sighted-in out (Simmons scope) to 75 yards. Second best were CCI Stingers. Didn't do well with Winchester or Remington. But, each rifle (never really understood why) has its own diet of ammo. That's the only two I had luck shooting with accuracy.
