p.s. went out shooting last night with a mate on his property and got a hare, saw two foxes, a few rabbits and a rat. foxes were too far away and i didnt wanna shoot the rabbits cos i didnt wanna scare the foxes off! 100 before we got home i decided to shoot the hare for my dog.
over at a mates place on dark tonight. shot 4 rabbits with 6 shots from a little sniping post i like. hadnt fired a shot for about 15 mins and then i saw this weird looking stick waving round in the air with what looked like a hankie on the end. took me about 30 secs or so to realise it was a fox frolicking and stretchin on a dirt mound. he was about 120m or so away in the creek gully i was in. he was on the other side and i decided to get a bit closer before i loosed off a shot. got to bank and was about 100m away and i decided to fire when he starting trotting towards a rabbit carcass (one i had shot), missed, and he hightailed and so did a fox that was hiding in the bushes just under him! i threw (not really) the gun over the fence and jumped it too to run down the creek and i sprinted along the creek in the direction he took off in. i stopped about 200m along the creek still on the opposite side when i saw him meandering along just taking his time. i chambered another round and followed him in the scope but figured i could get a better one if i cut him off further up seeing he was happy to keep on trotting through the gauze.
i set up and nice post with a good rest and waited, the shot wold be about 90m or so with a stirdy rest, no worries! along he came a few minutes later and disappeared behind a big boxthorn and... didnt come out. i thought he might have somehow so i walked further along the creek looking for him but no fox! never found his mate either. i walked up and back a few times before it was dark but no more foxies!
just thought id let ya know. i was supposed to be at work today too cos i ahve a 20,000word assignment due on fri, but instead of working i went hunting :o ! my bad.
cheers and happy hunting,
lockie
