Please recomend some quality mid priced spotting scopes.

I've heard some good things about Alpen. Fair price, good quality. Also Kowa may be one to look at. Check out some birdwatching websites, many do reviews of spotting scopes and binoculars and are very helpful.

I concur with M1, the Kowas are awesome spotters!
But, they can be a little pricey.
The 502 series look nice, but I haven't seen them personally.
The 600's are great!

If your looking for another alternative, I would suggest the Nikon XL II.
Good performance at a decent price.

I would also recommend buying from SWFA.
