I seriously doubt I'll ever use the spotting scope for, well, spotting, as in game. However, I'm sighting in a couple of rifles and running back and forth to see where the bullets are hitting is not not going to work. So I purchased an inexpensive (read, "cheap") spotting scope to help out. It's an Alpen, 18X36 50. It comes in a convenient carry case and has a functional tripod.
It's purported to be water proof, it's light weight, it provides a sufficiently clear image to see where a 7mm bullet it colliding with a target at say 200 yards and it appears reasonably well built. Does anyone have any experience with these? If so, what is your conclusion?
