The Remington 700 LVSF I'm buying claims to be Pillar Bedded in the synthetic stock from the factory. I know what a bedded action is but I don't know the specifics about a Pillar Bedded receiver. I want to put a laminate stock on the gun. What should I know to keep me out of trouble?

All pillar bedding is, is a PILLAR in which the action screws go through in the stock. This keeps pressure off the stock and on the pillars. Your rifle should have either a steel or alluminum tube epoxied in the stock that your action screws go through. You can change stocks anyway you like. It is up to you if you want it bedded or not. You can glass bed the action or install pillars. The choice is yours.

Thanks for the quick response Gismo. I see you're in Ohio. I live in the Wilmington area but the middle of June I move to New York. I've been away for a month and the critters are starting to make a mess of things. We have one ambitious racoon that is not bashful about trashing everything he can in search of a meal. Ground hogs are moving in making new burrows in the pastures too. If I were here (in Ohio) I'd be exercising one of my critter getters. I'm leaving 17 acres and moving to 30. I suspect lots of targets will be available there too.
