View Full Version : Keith-Style Lead Bullets?

Are Keith bullets the way to go when thinking of hunting with a revolver? I am considering getting some for a .45 colt Blackhawk and a .357 magnum Blackhawk. I think the common weights are 265gr and 170gr respectively.

I'd be hunting whitetail deer and targets/cans. I just want a single bullet type that I can use for all of my shooting to get used to the particular load.

Do these really perform any differently than standard SWC? Are there any companies that offer this design already cast up and ready to load?

Thanks,

Patrick

Bigger flat on the nose = bigger hole through the critter.

Keith bullets certainly work, but look at the LBT-designed bullets on the Beartooth site. You can effectively move up a couple of calibers.... example, the WFN profile in the .357, is the same meplat as the old Keith in .44 mag.

Suggestion, work up a good load with good hunting bullets, and then practice with whatever you can scrounge up for, the cheapest. That's what I do, Beartooth bullets for hunting, cheap gun show SWCs for plinking.

Lucky for you, this site is sponsored by Beartooth...and I can highly recommend their bullet design for hunting use.
