We have any obsessive Sika Deer hunters , that hunt Dorchester County Maryland ?
Cause I sure am :D
I'd turn down a whitetail hunt in Saskatchewan for a good Sika Deer hunt in Texas ;)

Get a copy of any major Texas newspaper, and look through the ads for hunting leases.... I'm sure you'll find plenty.
Or a bit of searching on the Internet should turn up plenty of hits, if someone here doesn't give you a few leads.
Good luck....

I'm not at the moment looking to go to Texas for Sika's. My point was if I were offered a trip to Canada for whitetails and a trip to Texas for Sika's I would got to Texas for the Sika's hands down .
Again thats not to say I would not like to go to Canada for big whitetails , but my preference would be Sika deer .

Being from Md , there are alot of place to hunt sika. I lease land in Dorchester but no Sika. There are public lands that are only accessible buy boat that sports some real good Sika hunting. Also you can hunt Asiteak Island with a permit for Sika.

I used to be in on two leases in lower Dorchester County . One was on Hip Roof road and the other on Beech Ground road . I've also hunted the Blackwater a time or two . I even killed a nice 6 pointer there during the gun season last year , he dressed out at 90 pounds .
I have thought of getting a jon boat to hunt Taylors Island and parts of Fishing Bay . But haven't yet .

I have acess to a hundred acers on Taylors Island . We at one time had 1000 acers . but lost a little at a time. Our club did. My land lord of the prperty that I lease now is a big sika hunter. he's from Cambridge . My lease is just off 16 before Black water.

What is your lease running per acre now ? I think we were paying about $20 an acre for one and about $14 an acre for the other in 1999. We had about 700 acres between the two.
If I could find a decent piece over there that was about 20-40 acres I would consider buying it , I believe .
The first six pointer I killed was in the early ML season and one of my buddies was hunting about 40 yards away from me , we were both 20 feet up in trees and we could not see each other.

I was sitting in front of the Blackwater refuge office the sunday morning before thanksgiving last year at about 7AM . Looked in that little field and a decent 6 point whitetail came out . Then three WT does followed by a 4 point WT . After that 6 or 7 WT does filtered out and I thought the parade was over then I looked up and an honest 140-150 class 8 point WT walked out . I was sitting in my truck 60 yards from him looking at him with 10x binocs and he was looking back . I know he screwed around in that field for 4 or 5 minutes .
I told the park service people what I saw and they said oh yeah that was the small one :D

I'm impatient when it comes to my Sika permits . Think I'll call tommorrow and see what areas I got ;)
Bought one of the "new" T/C Encore Pro Hunters in a ML with an extra 12 gauge slug barrel . This is just for the Blackwater :D

Well made it to the Blackwater for the early ML season and the shotgun season .
Heard them bugling both times but no sightings for me .
Did hear quite a few shots the morning of the shotgun season and a few the morning of ML season .
Now I can't wait until next year :D
