View Full Version : Bear Attack Near Tucson
Had a reported bear attack on a camping Boy Scout near Tucson the other day. Bear swiped at the kid as he lay in his sleeping bag and caused some personal injury to the boy. G&F officials think bear was attracted to the camp area by food/litter in the campground.
G&F officials found the animal hanging around, shot and killed it as a potential threat to others.
Officials speculate the 11 year drought in Arizona has forced predators and other game from their normal habitats to seek food and water in more populated areas.

How about giving the bear food stamps and medicade?

do you think killing the bear was the answer?
Yes. It's not like it's an endangered species.
What if that boy was one of your loved ones?

Perhaps they should close the area to us folks and just give it back to the bears. Or offer free bear tags to Dog Hunters.(in problem areas)

Unfortunately, killing the bear was probably the most appropriate from a risk management perspective. If it was relocated, it would just become a problem at its new home. Once wildlife looses it shiness from being sighted by humans, it will just dangerously interact more frequently. The problem is greed. Too many states are too busy overselling the quality of life of their towns and cities, and developers keep taking too much land. Humans pay the price in countless ways when they get out of balance with nature.

Send that bear back to its country of origin, and make it fill out the proper paperwork!
