It's not hard to make a tool to do this with and it's been done a bunch. Expansion depends upon how shot the lead is. With Pure lead on one end and linotype on the other.

If your just looking for expension at short ranges load soft hollow base wadcutters upside down. You might also check out our tech section on annealing just the nose of hardcast bullets so they are soft in front. This works especially well with rifle bullets.

The "holy grail" of bullets. One does it all.
The search continues?

If you do, then you got to re-weigh each one before loading, which is probably only going to change approx 10 gr anyway, but what would the purpose of this be?

It would be just safer to purchase bullets that are alread cast as hollow points that are uniform.

I am just fishing for answers, I am shooting a .445 Super Mag. I am doing a Black Bear Hunt in September. Looking for Ideas on Bullets. Want to hit them hard.

Since you have to reload for the .445 Super Mag anyway, why don't you look at what Marshall has here at Beartooth Bullets for sale.. better yet call him.

I wouldn't doubt he would recomend something like this one since you want plenty of smackdown.

Somthing like this?, I picked these up at a gun show a few years ago, anyone know where to get them now? I can't seem to find them or any thing similar?

What you are looking at is the Lyman cast bullet mold # 429421HP. Its rather uncommon now, but if you can find the standard 429421, Forester has a guide and boring tool to fit its standard trimmer, for hollowpointing loaded rounds allowing uniform diameter and depth. Truly for blackies, your HP, the standard Keith or any of the fine 255-270gr Beartooth WFN's would be fine.

I was leaning in two directions , .300 gr Xtp or I think 325 gr Beartooth. the 325 I would have to find a load for it.

At 1000-1300fps, either would be fine. Any faster, go with the Beartooth.
