anyone here use ltbs other than the 44 cal muzzleloader bullet in sabots? i'm thinking of trying something in .452 between 240 and 300+ grains. heading out at 2000fps + for target and deer (-200 lbs).

Savage smokeless shooters like the Barnes Original bullet in a 45-70 (.452) in an MMP "orange" sabot.

Hello, Have Used Hornady 300 Xtp With Mag Sabots And 3 Pellets Of 777 With Good Results. Crony Shows 1960fps From My Tc Encore 50. 2inch Groups At 100yds Is The Norm. 9 Shots 9 Pass Throughs On Deer.just My 2 Cents. See Ya Bill

Oh Yeah, These Are The Same Bullets I Use In My 45lc Vaquero. 2 Deer 1 Coyote 6 Racoons All Pass Throughs. I'd Really Like To Recover A Bullet Some Day. Bill

Howdy guy, I use the Speer 45cal 260gr JHP, with a MMP sabot, behind two Pyrodex pellets and a Win 209 primer, in my old Austin Halleck inline. It's deadly on just about anything out to 150yds, it also shoots 1in groups from my rifle. Give it a try!!

When I had my 700 Rem ML I tried several factory sabot's and bullets, then tried my Kieth style cast 255 grainer and a Lee cast 300 grainer. For some reason this gun just refused to shoot any kind of sabot and bullet I tried. Know folks that have good luck with them, but for some reason it wasn't in my cards.
As far as using bullets in a sabot you can purchase sabot's for both .429 and .452-8 caliber bullets. Most pistol bullets are actually designed for the velocities generated by a muzzle loader and should perform as well on game as if shot from a high powered revolver.
The only question you'll have is will they shoot acceptable groups from your muzzle loader. I'd suggest trying several to see if you can find the one that shoots best. When I was working on this idea I wanted to be able to shoot my inexpensive cast for cheap practice.
