My neighbor has a BLR in 284 Win that he wants to sell.  I've been thinking about building a wildcat rifle and figure that this rifle with a 22" barrel and reciever sights, maybe QD scope mounts should be a dandy woods/timber deer/elk/moose combo.  I know that the 284's case capacity is greater than the 308 win so I should be able to get a little more velocity than a 358 Win. This project is still in the early planning stage ie lack of funds at the moment,but any thoughts or suggestions will be welcome.  

Hi Mike, you should check the P. O. Ackley book vol.II it lists .35/.284 and comparies it to a .35 Whelen. It only lists two loads #1. 200 gr. bullet 51 grs. of 4895 for 2550 fps. and #2. 250 gr. bullet 53 grs. 4064 for 2400 fps. Hope this helps and good luck. Jack K.
