Had a buddy drop a 7mm08 in a 25-06 at the range this weekend and dropped the hammer. No one was hurt but the H&R Ultra is in need of repair as well as his scope, according to the pic he sent me. I don't have any other details and I was not there.
Be careful out there.

I know of a fella that had a friend load a 7.62x39 round in his buddy's .243 Handi and fired it, the gun fired, but the action wouldn't open, but everything was intact including the embarrassed shooter and those around him, fortunetly! H&R put a new barrel on it for him and all was good to go including the frame.
You can't be too careful out there! The .243 Handi belonged to the fella. The shooter was a friend along with him that owned a 7.62 Russian and asked to shoot the Handi, but he inadvertantly loaded his own ammo in it.

If your'e dumb enough,Godwill protect you.
I brought only 2 rifles to the range, and carefully seperated the 30/30 ammo from the 30/40 ammo.
However,I somehow selected the 30/30 cartridge to load into my Krag.
The shot seemed like a "squib load";no damage to me or the Springfield.

I recently fed a 243 win through my 270. No damage, other than a lost case. But sure an eye opener. Now any of the bigger 308 based cartridges would have been a mess.

You would have needed some lube! and a hammer! To pull the fragments from your head!
 How? Bet it will never shoot the same!
Message to self, never buy a rifle from....
It would be interesting to see a compilation of what cartridges will fire in what (wrong) chamber and what the likely outcome would be.

I know for a fact that 9mm will feed from a .40S&W mag when hand cycled and fire but it won't eject...
That was the first and last time I kept the 9mm and .40 ammo boxes together. Now they reside on different shelves.:D

Here is a list of cartridges that will fire in the wrong chamber. Look this over and think when loading your gun.
apparantly the attachment is too large and I had to reduce it so much to get it to attach. If you want a copy of this email me and I will send you one.

You're very welcome, Don. If it helps prevent even one accident/incident, it was well worth it!!

Heh, my dad bought a crapload of 7.62x39 surplus military ammo for his Savage .308... I can vouch that the particular rifle we have will shoot it (at least 200+ rounds worth) but I can also guarantee that neither my dad nor I will be pushing our luck with that combo anymore.
