I checked through the archives to locate information on the best reloading software recommended by the participants on Shooters Forum. I located two brief threads from 2003 and 2004. I tried the links listed in those threads but did not locate what I was looking for.

I would appreciate the thoughts of anyone currently using reloading software. If the software was free, was it what you wanted? If it cost, was it worth it, did it have the features you were looking for?

I am looking for software that would allow a log to be kept of various loads as well as calculate velocity, trajectory etc with the correct inputs. It would be nice if it had the load recommendations similar to the Noslar, Lyman etc manuals. I would also like the software to have some other bells and whistles that I do not even know about, but could use as I learn more. I need it to be windows compatable.

Let me know where you can get the software also. I have a Cabellas, Sportsman Warehouse and Gander Mountain all within 10 miles(Not quite Heaven but I do believe God must live close to here).

I look forward to finding out what works and what does not.

I like the RCBS Load and Lee programs.

RCBS load has most all of the manual from other companies incorporated. It does require a little study and practice to use well.
Load has target tool that scans and measures your targets. Takes all of the guess work out of measuring group sizes for me.
I really like the external trajectory tool.Mine has a bullet designer program that has all of the bullets pre-drawn so you can get a look at them.

I think Joe at Realguns.com did a road test on the Load program.
You can see sample pages at gmdr.com also.

I also like the Lee program for its inventory pages, its personal loads data page and its simple format external ballistices generator. the Lee program is low cost but it provides a lot of record keeping data in an easy to use format. No load data.

I dont like programs from the bullet manufacturers but there are several out that work well. I have Sierras Infinity program and it works quite well. I think mine must be an early version as others have some features that mine does not seem to have.

I am interested in the Barnes program and would like to hear from anyone using it.

THanks for the info. Any idea on price on RCBS or Lee?

The Beartooth Ballistician's Corner has some on-line calculators.

The External Ballistics calculator links to JBM' site, which has several other calculators. This is an advance site.

PointBlank is a free program that does most of what you need.

I've long been a fan of Load From A Disk for Windows. See my review of that and a few other programs at my webpage www.reloadingroom.com

None of them do all that you want, but LFD allows you to calculate load data from cartridge parameters (even wild imaginary ones). It is not completely accurate as to pressure estimates, but then neither are printed manuals. It's for rifle cartridges only, and isn't free. You can also testdrive it at the company webpage www.loadammo.com

I have RCBS Load. I like it a lot, also you can purchase "electronic Manuals” from them.
It has all the features you have asked for.

Thanks. From looking at the web site on related to RCBS.Load I believe that is what I am looking for. What is the price? I can not seem to track down a price for the software, only that it is available through specific dealers.
