If this works, you'll be looking at a reduced version of the certificate that the top three scoring shooters receive. Think it will look good, framed, above your reloading bench?
I would like for mine to have gold star on it, please. :D

I think RD's response was to Let CA about the Texas flyboy ne'er do well (which would be his own self!). :D

Yeah, unfortunately my targets aren't much of a threat this year. I've got to fire-lap my barrels and get some better targets - they keep moving around when I pull the trigger. On the other hand, my trash-talk is in fine form, offending one and all - though not with any serious intent.

Let,
At least you are sending in targets. I haven't even done that!!! You are miles ahead of me. :o

I can't speak for Ranch Dog, but in the 4 years of this match I don't believe I have ever heard any of the shooters try to be mean in what they say to one another. And sometimes it gets pretty deep ;) Like hip wader deep.

Ranch Dog was speaking of himself, I'm sure. He never puts any of us down and runs a great match.
I just gave him an honorary great group with his 218 Bee CL, as he never shot anywhere near that small a group with it. I know he isn't happy with the way it shoots.

Just got back from the range and I have nothing to improve on. The thing is just all over the place. It has to be me. The 90+ heat ain't helping either. The humidity was 88% today up from 44% yesterday and you could tell.

Meant myself and rifle. That 218 Bee I own is the sorriest excuse of a Marlin there is.

Ranch Dog OK.
Sorry to hear about your Bee..Closest thing i have to it is a Hornet.
Have you tried any pointy bullets yet, maybe like a 40gr VMAX over a good charge 14 gr or so of LiL Gun caped with a Rem. 7 1/2 primer..
You'll have to shoot um single file, but maybe you can sort it out that way - is it the rifle, or the load..

From the winner of the grand prize in the hog hunt drawing last year...EVERY target is worth sending in as an entry in the drawing. I think this postal match is great...the smallest group gets bragging rights while the winner in a random drawing gets a hog hunt at the Ranch Dog Ranch. If you cant shoot well, shoot often.

It's the bullet and/or rate of twist Marlin chose to use. With the 1-16 twist the Hornady bullet becomes unstable at 1100 FPS. It actually needs a shorter/lighter bullet. I've got a Lee special order mold drawn up but can't get to it until later in the year.

Well said Beartoother! The rainfall has been steady since your departure so the hogs are a bit happier and easier to hunt.

The 40gr VMAX measures .685 with a boat tail and is to long..Well have you tried the 35gr VMAX its only .515 long with a flat base.

And that is the great thing about the match. EVERYBODY has a chance to win, that's why I can't figure out why more people don't shoot the match. All you have to do is put some bullets through the paper for a chance to win.

Too long also, needs to be around .45" to stabilize. The boolit I have drawn up is a 40-grain Flat Nose.

I actually have two CL's in 218 and the bullet I shoot the most is a Rem. 45gr HP. It shoots great in both rifles.13.8grs AA1680 for right at 2700fps. I've used this same load with the Speer 45grFP and it shot great also, in fact I shot a 100yd. bench target this morning with it I'll be sending in.The Rem's are pretty cheap to buy in bulk and really flatten the woodchucks and p-dogs.

I've spent enough on bullets, powder, and trigger work and now consider it 219 Zipper bait. Gun and cash if anybody has a 219. I'm just not interested in the 1894 actions and need the 219 Zipper to complete my 336/1895 lineup.
