Due to increasing SPAM activity on ShootersForum.com, new rules immediately apply to the Trading Post forums.
In order to start a new thread here advertising an item you must be a registered member of ShootersForum.com for a minimum period of 7 days and have a minimum of 25 posts credited to your membership.
All posts offering goods for sale or trade must also state up-front the purchase price of those goods, and/or the trade items desired. No exceptions!
Posts must also indicate geographic location of items to be sold/traded. Simply list from what state the transaction will originate.
Lastly, if you are a business and wish to promote your goods/services on ShootersForum.com contact me prior to doing so. We have made accomodations for others in this regard, but you must negotiate through me first, and this contact information is found literally everywhere on the website. If you are a business, no prior agreement with me, no ads on Trading Post forums. No exceptions. Period.
Thank you for your understanding in this matter, and we do look forward to your participation here!
God bless,
Gismo

Good start Marshall. Maybe this will keep most of them out. I see so many that try to sell what sounds to be "store items", on their very first post. This should keep that way down.

Naw your fine jb, just that the forum has been set so you can't get in unless you have 25 posts now. The reason this was done was because we had lots of folks just wanting to use the forum for advertising space instead of discussing guns and hunting. If you want that post delated let me know if not it'll stay and perhaps someone will need what your selling.
Either way welcome and keep talking to us about hunting and shooting thats what were here for.

JB, there has been a lot of spam posted here lately. Yours is not one of them, but to keep it from happening Marshall has set new guide lines. I am guessing that you have to wait till you get your 25 posts in. It is nothing against you. He had to do something to stop the spam.

Please don't post just to raise post counts. Those counts will increase over time, just be patient. Otherwise, if we start having non-sensical or "fluff" posts just to raise counts, we'll have to start locking threads or other actions. We come here to learn and share our experiences, tips and techniques and hopefully contribute something positive to our selected outdoor shooting sports. Just stopping buy to sell items isn't what this board is about. Please be patient and join in the comraderie of your fellow outdoorsmen. Your post count will rise soon enough.

I did not actually mean it. What I intended to imply was the fact that out of the 10 posts present- he had 5 of them and if he kept it up he would be there real fast.

I tried after post #25, then again after #26 and #27 - it wouldn't let me start a thread either.

I think all problems regarding Trading Post Permissions have now been remedied! I've just finished reworking the forum permissions, and I think all glitches are amended.
Thanks for the patience.

Marshall,
How about requirements to post a WTB item?
I have a friend (in NC) who has a Harrington and Richardson Pioneer 22 cal. rifle and doesn't have the bolt for it. He contacted one organization who had one but they wanted as much for it as one fellow said the entire rifle is worth, in excellent condition. He declined.
He needs the entire bolt assembly. If anyone has one for sale at a reasonable price he'd like to get it.
This looks like a good forum and I like the idea of moderation.
Thanks

Go ahead and post your WTB. It's the people who want to list their whole inventory without permission that are the problem.

Thanks for the information. I have inherited some weapons and more than likely I will be selling some of them. I do not know if I will make the 25 post mark as I am not always on here. If that may pose a problem, I will contact you for advice. Until then, I will keep an eye out.

Hi Marshall:
Can I email you to find out if what I want to do is ok? Basically I would be interested in selling your forum members some really good stuff at super prices. BUT I don't want to step on any toes. So what are the rules and what do I need to pay? I usually only have VERY limited items for sale, ones that I pick up really cheap, yet high quality and sell for LESS than the DEALER cost. If this is not forbidden let me know ok? Or tell me not to do so ok? It's all up to you of course. But seriously I am trying to offer members some really nice stuff at super prices. Or perhaps I could pay to post an ad? I wouldn't mind an annual payment BUT I usually make so little off of it it is hard to justify large payments. Thanks.

Countryman - You'll be better served calling Marshall on the phone numbers listed on the home page, rather than trying to negotiate on the board's forums. Marshall is a very busy man and rarely visits here.
Our policy is to keep any unauthorized advertising, large or small off the board. Marshall tells the Moderators those folks that have his approval.

You need 25 posts before you can advertise for sale or trade. Please see the rules in bold print a few posts above.

Well, I certainly understand not wanting spammers but it would seem that there could be unintended consequences. So be it.
Why would there be unintended consequences?
Rules usually have a reason, and in this case the board doesn't want folks that just use it for commercial or self gain. Don't mind the board members selling/trading at all - but frown on those who only use it for such.

Hey ! I'm sorry if it came across as complaining. I'm a new guy here and not really interested in making a bad impression. If it's just for spammers, the same result could be had with a lot less than 25 posts. Let's say that I wanted to buy a gun and wanted to post in the classifieds that I was looking for one. I couldn't do it because I hadn't posted 25 posts. I am not sure how posting that you wanted to buy a particular kind of gun would be considered spam or need to be stopped.
Anyway, I'm just glad to be here.

There is no post requirement for Want to Buy ads, just Want to Sell or Trade. That's explained in the first post of this thread.

If you say so. The Trading Post is for buying AND selling. It won't let you start a thread until you fulfill your quota of messages. There's no separate options for buying as opposed to selling. At least I didn't see one. Maybe I missed it.
Anyway, like they say, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

You might consider carefully reading some of the 'stickies' as they go into quite a bit of detail about rules, protocol, etc.
A little time invested on your part will make for a better, more productive forum for everyone.

Good Afternoon,
Would Like To Enter A Wtb, But Since I Don't Post Much I Haven't Got The 25 Times.
Have Purchased Items Twice.
Does The 25 Times Apply To Wtb As Well? Please Advise.
Guess I Need To Make Comments Regularly; I Look Often Just Don't Comment.
Best Regards,
Cnosnow

Bonifay is a nice little town, I've been through there a bunch and I think some of my wife's people live there. Don't be shy about posting your opinions. Keep the "Be Nice" rule in mind, of course, should not be hard for a Southern gentleman.
cnosnow -
We make exceptions for those wanting to "buy". What we're attempting to do with the time limit and required minimum number of posts is to keep out those who merely want to post items for sale and never bother to join in the discussions.
If you have an item you would like to buy, post it in one of the most appropiate forums and one of the Mod's will move it to the Trading Post. Remember, try to do all dealing transactions with the Private Message systme provided by the board to keep the details and email addresses confidential to you and the prospective seller.
