Looking for some good load data on the 30-30 winchester with a 150gr gc cast bullet. I will be shooting these in a Winchester 94. Medium velocity to factory speads.

Little more help...looking to try and duplicate factory load speeds...medium vel...or lite loads?

I've been loading the Lee C309 150 F ahead of 35.0 grains of H414 for a Win 94 that likes the load.

Medium velocity to factory load speads. I have been told by fellow reloaders that I can take jacketed data of the same weight & starting loads and reduce them by a couple of grains.

I've been shooting just that for a while now in a Savage 340 bolt gun I picked up expressly for the purpose.
Pull up a chair.
The only load that would shoot plainbase (no GC) bullets at all for me was 7.0 of 700X at 1200 fps. Very mild, great small game load to 50 yards, works fine with large pistol primers.
When I couldn't get Laser-Cast plainbase bullets to group in the same zip code at higher speeds, I ordered some 150 FP GC bullets from Leadhead Bullets in Kansas.
Success. Try 27.0 of W748 and standard large rifle primers, medium crimp. 2100 fps and two-inch groups or less. That might be all you need right there.
I'd have been happy with it, but I got talked into trying Accurate 5744, and now I may be switching loyalty. Tried 22.0 just the other day and got 1966fps with an SD of 15 with the first batch. That's not the max load, and I may work up to see if the 2-inch groups will tighten. They just might.

I'm gonna hafta go with 9-12 grains of Unique for 1400-1600fps or with 4198 at 21-25 grains for 1800-2100 fps. Both powders seem to be reasonable accurate. I don't know what 150 grain lead you will be using but what I quoted should be safe enough for anything I have seen in 150 gr. 30 cal. Chief
