I have two Buckmarks. One is a standard model from around 1986. The other is a 5.5 Target. They're great pistols!

Yes, Ive owned a Buckmark and it was awesome. I also have owned a Smith&Wesson 22A and it was a decent shooter as well. Smiths revolvers in .22 are great as well. Ive never fired one, but Bersa makes a little pocket auto and if its as good as their Thunder models, it has too be awesome.

Taurus makes a nice small frame revolver. I have a Ruger Mark II target auto that I very accurate. My favorite is probably an old stainless Rossi small frame revolver. I can't tell you how many rounds have went thru this gun. Here are some pix.

I competed for a bunch of years with the MarkII, but the little Rossi which so resembles the original Smith model 19 .357 is just so much fun to pack and shoot. It is also very accurate. Taurus bought out Rossi a number of years ago and the Rossi's, even used ones carry the same lifetime warrentee as the Taurus's.

Walther p22 is pretty fun to shoot. I wouldn't call it an amazingly accurate piece..then again i'm new to handgun shooting, and I have the short barrel p22.

I also have a Sig Mosquito. And if you get a new one, those are accurate, fun, and feel like a 'real' gun (the p22 is tiny and almost toy like in the grip).

I'll second the buckmark, I have one and it is very nice, mine has taken quite a few rabbits :)

I have shot a mosquito and it was mighty fine too, but of course, I am a SIG person

I too am looking for a rimfire pistol, dont care if it's auto or revolver. I think I have narrowed the field down to 3 the Walther P22 in the longer barrel, the Taurus wheeler 94 in 4" or the Ruger Mark II anyone have any recommendations? I will be using it for target mostly but may use in the field for some small gameor just as a pack gun. I have a lot of centerfire pistols but no rimfires and in the centerfire I do prefer a wheeler.

I have 3 .22 auto guns. A Beretta neos. It shoots ok but I don't shoot it much. Reason cause I have a Ruger MK2 slab side and it shoots really good. I also have a S&W 22A and it shoots good. In my opinion the smith shoots better than the Beretta. But the Ruger is the best. I have shot a Buckmark and they too shoot good. If you look at the Berettas if the dealer will let you try the trigger on each of them. Some of them are kinda rough. I tryed 4 of them until I found a trigger pull that was smooth. I think the Ruger or the Browning would be the best.

I would recommend that if you decide on the P22 that you purchase the short barrel version. The longer barrel version has no advantages. The accuracy is the same and the gun with the longer barrel is harder to dissasemble... You can go here and read up on the P22... it has some quirks but can be tuned into a great little gun with a little bit of time.

Here is the forum for the P22 fan.

If you can't find the information you need on that site, it doesn't exist. The member 1917-1911M knows more about the P22 than anyone I have ever come in contact with.

I have a S&W .22lr pistol from the 1990's that is fun to shoot but they don't make that model anymore.

There are also a lot of used Hi Standards kicking around. Great shooters and not overly expensive. Loved my S+W K22but finally let it go...gun laws up here made it too much a hassel. Also had an old(60's era) russian target pistol in 22. Vostok?? I believe. adjustable counter weights on barrel and super trigger, it was a super shooter.

S&W 22S. Super accurate. Good buy for the money.

I have a Ruger MkII and a 22/45. Much prefer the 22/45's handle shape & angle. Try them both to see what fits your hand better.
