Well, seeing as how its kind of a different sort of pistol, I have to wonder if anybody else here has one. Ive owned 3 different pistols. The first was a brushed chrome .50AE with Houge finger groove grips and adjustable sights. It was quite a shooter and I took my first deer with a handgun with it. Then I had a black .44mag with adjustable sights that was a real tack driver and a heck of a lot of fun to shoot. Those big frames and gas operated cycling system really take the recoil out of the .44mag. I just recently sold that .44 to one of my good friends for a stainless Super BlackHawk and a wad of cash that I used to buy a Bersa Thunder and a Marlin 983 .22mag in stainless with the tube magazine and laminated stock. All three are great shooters by the way. Now ive got a titanium carbon nitride coated .50AE with fixed sights and the crappy factory grips. It is a real handfull and recoils like a .500 S&W Mag or maybe worse. They are certainly weird guns and darn expensive to buy and shoot, especially in .50AE. What is the census on these? Im curious as to what the rest of the world thinks. I like them, despite their shortcomings, and they usually draw a crowd at the range which is cool. I would like to get a Bowen conversion for my Super BlackHawk so it will shoot the .50AE with full moon clips. That is around $2,000 to have done so it wont be soon!

One of my buddies in MT had one "for bear" when he went camping. It was fun to shoot, and you're right, the weight really tames the recoil.

Ever since shooting it, I've liked them. They are big and expensive, so it's been one of those things that I'll buy one of these days, when I have some extra cash (yeah, right), but not something I'd plan to carry.

I also like the interchangeability of the 50/44/357 - just change barrel and mags and you're set.

I have one of the .44's with the brushed chrome finish and 6" barrel. It's a good shooter, and very accurate. I'd like to get a 10" barrel to go with it. It's a little on the heavy side for carrying, but the weight helps in terms of shootability.

Shot them.... work fine.... can't see carrying one all day, any more than carrying a brick in a holster.

Just too darn big and heavy for what I want!

Hey, a brick can take out a bad guy from behind, when he doesn't know your there. :D
